Joe and Liz are engaged!

Joe had it all figured out. The plan was to wait for the Zamboni to clear the ice, take Liz’s hand, and skate her out to the center of the rink before dropping to one knee. While Liz may have thought that he was just being nice and pushing her around the rink, Joe was really using her back as a cover to text everyone with play-by-play updates of the plan. Everyone did he invited did their best to blend in with the crowd as everyone was exiting the rink. The ice was cleaned and you could hear the “awws” and bystanders quickly figured out why this couple would be heading back to the center alone.

In his own words, “I had like a 10 minute speech planned but as soon as my skate hit the ice, I completely forgot everything.” But what was unforgettable was the absolute “Yes!” and the cheers from everyone gathered around!

Friends and family quickly gathered to the boards and, as they say, the rest is history.

While everyone walked over to La Lanterna for a celebratory dinner (and drinks, of course), Joe, Liz and I took the opportunity to get away from the crazy neon lights over the ice for some amazing night shots right on Michigan Ave. These two are so genuine to each other and I know that the rest of their lives together are going to be filled with an extraordinary amount of happiness.
